We cannot profit when you fall behind

A business that earns from penalty fees has a quiet reason to want customers to miss payments. We designed SahulatKar so that reason does not exist.

The incentive most lenders do not mention

When late fees are a source of revenue, a lender's interests and a customer's interests quietly pull in opposite directions. The more customers struggle, the more the lender earns.

This misalignment does not need to be intentional to be real. Even a well meaning company can end up, over time, optimizing quietly for a customer base that pays late often enough to be profitable, simply because that is what the revenue model rewards. SahulatKar is structured to remove that conflict completely. We only earn when a purchase plan is completed successfully, never when it is not.

Where a late fee actually goes

The moment a late fee is calculated, an automated rule routes all of it to charitable causes. It never enters SahulatKar's revenue.

This is not a decision made later, case by case, by someone at the company. It is part of how the fee is recorded in the first place, so there is no step at which it could be redirected, and no manual approval that a well meaning employee could quietly skip or a future employee could quietly change.

How charity partners are chosen

Late fee proceeds are directed to registered charitable organizations operating in Pakistan, selected for a clear and verifiable purpose, such as education access, healthcare, or poverty relief, rather than causes chosen for how they sound in a press release.

As SahulatKar grows, we intend to publish the specific partner organizations and the amounts routed to each on this page, so the claim is something you can check rather than something you are simply asked to trust.

Auditable, not just promised

Every late fee allocation is logged and can be reviewed. It is a compliance record rather than a marketing line, which means it is something you can ask us about, not something you have to take on trust.

That record includes, at minimum, the amount of the fee, the date it was charged, and the charitable destination it was routed to. If you would like to understand how your own late fee, if you ever have one, was handled, our support team can walk you through the specific entry.

How late payments are handled, start to finish

Any late fee is calculated according to the schedule disclosed in your Murabaha contract before you sign. We send reminders by SMS, WhatsApp, or app notification ahead of each due date, so a payment should never catch you by surprise.

  • Reminder sent ahead of the due date, before anything is late
  • A short grace period immediately after the due date, during which no late fee applies
  • If payment still has not been made, the disclosed late fee is applied and routed to charity
  • Continued reminders and, if needed, a conversation with our support team about your options
  • Only after written notice, as your contract requires, does the matter move to collection activity

A missed payment may also pause the growth of your credit limit described on our financial inclusion page, since that growth is specifically tied to a pattern of on time repayment.

A flip countdown clock

If you know a payment is going to be difficult

If you can see a payment is going to be hard to make before the due date arrives, reaching out to our support team ahead of time is always a better path than waiting for a reminder to arrive and hoping the situation resolves itself.

We would always rather work out a realistic plan with a customer who tells us early than collect a late fee, even one that goes entirely to charity, from a customer we never heard from until after the due date had passed.

Why it matters beyond the money

This reflects a longstanding principle of Islamic finance: a lender should not profit from a borrower's hardship. It also keeps us honest, because our success depends entirely on customers completing their plans comfortably, not on a small percentage of them struggling.

Frequently asked questions

A late fee applies according to your contract, after a short grace period, and the full amount is donated to charity. SahulatKar keeps none of it.

Every late fee allocation is logged in an auditable record. Email our support team at chat.sahulatkar@gmail.com to ask how it is reviewed, or which charity partner a specific fee was routed to.

It can. On time repayment is what grows your limit, so a missed payment may pause that growth, even though the fee itself is never kept as profit.

Yes. We send reminders by SMS, WhatsApp, or app notification ahead of each due date, before any grace period or late fee comes into play.

We direct proceeds to registered charitable organizations in Pakistan working on clear, verifiable causes such as education, healthcare, or poverty relief, and intend to publish partner details on this page as we grow.

Contact our support team before the due date. We would rather discuss a realistic plan with you in advance than have a late fee be the first sign we hear about a problem.
